How the Benefit Works
The total value of Basic income It is the result of adding two quotas.
- A Quota A It is the integration of family income, calculated up to a ceiling of 6.000 euros per year multiplied by the equivalence scale.
- Already Quota B It is intended for housing assistance, and can reach up to 280 euros per month for rent or 150 euros for the payment of a mortgage (loan) for one's own home.
- Taken together, these amounts can represent vital support for maintaining family dignity while members seek employment.
The benefit lasts for a maximum of 18 months.
After this period, it is possible to renew the request, but the law requires a mandatory one-month pause before the nineteenth installment is paid.
Throughout the entire period of receipt, any change in employment status must be reported to INPS using the specific forms (SR181 or SR182), otherwise the right will be immediately forfeited.
The Pact for Work and Social Inclusion
The major counterpart of Basic income is the signature of the DID (Dichiarazione di Immediata Disponibilità) and subsequent pacts.
Adults eligible for work are called upon by Employment Centers to sign the Pact for Work, committing to participate in qualification courses and accept job offers that meet the criteria of "congruence".
However, there are exceptions to these duties.
Minors, senior citizens over 65, people with severe disabilities, and those with caregiving responsibilities (such as caring for children under three years old) are exempt from work obligations.
For others, failure to appear for appointments without valid justification is one of the main causes for cancellation of the benefit, reinforcing its character as an "active citizen's income".
