1. How do I register for the Gas Assistance program?
Go to the CRAS (Social Assistance Reference Center) in your municipality and request registration or updating of your information in the Unified Registry; selection is automatic through the government system.
2. Can the Gas Assistance program be requested online?
No. Registration for CadÚnico is done in person; offers of online registration are fraudulent. Always confirm at gov.br.
3. How often is the benefit paid?
The benefit is paid every two months (bimonthly), and each installment is valid for 120 days.
4. What if my family receives Bolsa Família or BPC?
Receiving Bolsa Família does not prevent you from receiving the program — the program uses prioritization criteria that may favor Bolsa Família families; families with BPC beneficiaries may also be eligible according to the rules.
5. Where can I check the schedule and the exact amount of my payment?
Consult the Bolsa Família app/portal linked to Caixa, a Caixa branch, or the gov.br/services portal regarding the Gas Assistance program for the official schedule.
6. Can I receive the Gas Assistance even if I'm not in the Bolsa Família program?
Yes. The Bolsa Família program is not mandatory to receive the Gas Assistance program. It only offers priority in the selection process. Families registered in the CadÚnico (Single Registry for Social Programs), within the required income range, may be eligible even if they do not participate in the Bolsa Família program.
7. What happens if the CadÚnico (Single Registry for Social Programs) is out of date?
An outdated CadÚnico (last updated more than 24 months ago) significantly reduces the family's chances of being selected. In some cases, an outdated registration can completely prevent the benefit from being received.
8. If I don't withdraw the money within 120 days, can I get it back later?
Unfortunately, no. After the 120-day validity period, the benefit expires and cannot be recovered. The family will continue to participate in the selection process in the following months, but the missed installment is not reissued.
