From March 1th, 2024The Social Internet Offer became the prevailing model for new sign-ups. Key points:
- Minimum requirements30 Mbps download speed and 150 GB monthly data allowance (legal minimum).
- PriceThere is a regulated ceiling for the monthly price (indicative value communicated by the competent authorities; operators may offer packages within these parameters).
- ProvidersThe scheme is offered by mobile/fixed-internet operators that join the program; public information lists the participants.
- Right to retain the old discountThose who requested the discount before 01/03/2024 may, under certain conditions, maintain the previous discount (maximum of €11,50 per month), subject to transitional rules.
Special cases and exceptions
- Collective heating / Central heatingWhen heating is provided by a collective system (e.g., a central boiler in a building), the rules for applying the social tariff may vary; contact the building manager/responsible entity and CPAS for guidance.
- Social housingResidents of social housing receive specific treatment depending on their contract and the service provider; please check locally.
- Combination of benefitsIt is not always possible to combine benefits; in some scenarios, the social tariff replaces other discounts. Always consult your CPAS or the provider.
